Gas Interlock System Parts

About G.I.S

G.I.S cut-off gas flow in the event of kitchen extraction fan failures.
Now a mandatory requirement in most commercial kitchens.

Sensors are installed on either side of the ductwork to monitor air pressure. These sensors are connected to an air differential switch which is activated when the pressure difference changes. An alternative option is to monitor the current used by the fan with a fan power sensor. A 230V G.I.S monitors the switch/sensor and should a fan failure occur the gas solenoid valve with be closed and cut-off the gas flow to appliances.

When is G.I.S a Mandatory Requirement?

  • On installation of a new extraction/ventilation canopy
  • On installation of a new gas pipework run
  • On installation of a new cook line or layout
  • With any fitting of Category ‘B’ equipment such as ovens, deep fryers etc.
  • Including replacements to an existing layout
